In early 1945 Alistair was granted 28 days leave and spent that time in Tain. His return to the Far East in March 1945 heralded an exciting and at times dangerous period ending with Alistair and his team pushing towards Rangoon in the vanguard of the 5th Division.. It was at this time he was Mentioned in Despatches. On his return to the UK he spent a short period with the Intelligence Corps based in Edinburgh before demob.
Alistair returned to the world of insurance, married Peggy Cooper (sister of Charles Cooper,Post Office, Tain) with whom he had three children. Alistair died in Edinburgh in 1977 aged 58 years.
