Ghillie at Deanich LodgeThe ghillie in this photo, taken near Deanich Lodge in the early 1920's, is Hector Macleod (1860-1941), Great Grandfather of contributor, Ross Macleod. The figure in the doorway is Hector's youngest son - Ross's Grandfather. At the time Deanich was part of the Balnagown Estate but the area is now the Alladale and Deanich Estate.

I believe this is the original lodge. A covered entrance porch was added some time later. Some recent photos are available here http://users.bigpond.com/ross.macleod/deanich/

Please tell me how close to Deanich Lodge was this building, east, west, north or south and is this cottage still standing ?
