This Oval shaped cast iron "Tilley" type iron has a polished base and a patterned top. The handle is "U" shaped with a layer of asbestos between it and the top of the iron. The handgrip is of black painted wood fixed to the handle by a through-bolt 125mm long. The paraffin tank is cylindrical made of aluminium 90mm in diameter and fitted to the rear of the iron. There is a filler cap and safety valve at the top and a flow control valve at the bottom. The border is fitted within the iron which is lit through holes at the side. This iron worked by the evaporation of burning paraffin.
