Upright horn snuff box, oval in section, with silver base and lid by Alexander Stewart. Top of lid engraved with initials DR, underside marked A.S. Card inside the box states "Silver mounted snuff box made by Alexander Stewart silversmith Tain circa 1776. Originally belonged to D. Ross father of Crawford Ross Esq. Cadboll. Later belonged to Mrs Ross & Miss McCandie Tain. Later to Kenneth Mackenzie merchant Tain & sold to Mr Paterson at Rosemount Tain by Provost Ross (Willie Tickie) Tain".
