Babs McGill (nee Margaret Ann Ross Husband)
Standing (in the middle) is my mother's brother Murd Ross. He was the butcher in town. Mu cousin Ian ran the butcher shop after his dad. We used to come to Tain for summer holidays, and actually lived there with Uncle Murd and Aunt Rachel from 1939-1946.
Allan Davidson
Alan Davidson was my uncle,on my fathers side. His childhood nickname was ‘basho’.He served as a military policeman in the RAF in W.W.2.My other uncle,on my mothers side,is standing behind him and to his left,Charlie Cooper.Uncle Charlie was a post office engineer in Tain for well over thirty years.Uncle Alan returned to the family home at 6Ross Street after the war and for the next 25 years looked after my granny. He took over his fathers saddlery/shoe shop business opposite what was the Balnagowan Hotel.
