The car is a Straker Squire of ca 1912. If Dr Gilles at the wheel is Dr Kenneth Gilles (or Gillies) then his earlier car was a 1904 Rolls-Royce 10 h.p. 2-cylinder (car survives)

As there are 6 named men in he group, I believe that the driver of the car was my paternal grandfather, Harry Walker who was in partnership with Len Walker of Knockbreck Road Tain. I also think that this photgraph may be earlier than the date printed. Prior to this he was employed for a time with Fox and Maclean

Interestingly, Dr Gillies was a former owner of the oldest surviving Rolls Royce motor car. A Rolls Royce Rolls-Royce 20154, it remained in his possession from 1905 - 1910. On 3 December 2007 the car was auctioned in London by Bonhams and realised £3.5 million.

Alex Forsyth was my paternal grandfather. He ran Forsy's Drapery Warehouse, 31 High Srett Tain, now the TSB. I l still have a roll of the shop string, the flat stuff with the Shop names on it.
