Photo Description
Harry Munro grew up in Ardross but was a policeman in Tain during the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was known as "Harry the Horse" because of his passion for horses. When he left Tain for Lancashire, it was to join the mounted police as this picture illustrates. Does anyone remember this colourful character from his days in Tain?

Hi, just want to say that I know Harry and his wife Meg. I look after their horses Win, Ted + jack. Harry's fine wish I could say the same about his language. They both say hello and hope you are ok.

I met Harry a few years back and he had a score of funny stories of his time as a pc in Tain. Like the time he and MacLennan (a fellow character) found an old bike in the High Street and while on duty at about 2am. tried to ride it backwards by sitting on the handlebars! Harry tried going down Castle Brae and when passing the Railway hotel found no brakes! "Police!" cried the recipient of the wreckage.."I am the **** police! cried a battered Harry. Send money Harry and I'll shut up!

I remember him well, as I had horses at the same time. His then horses were called Tele and Freya, he had a great impact on my riding skills.
