Tarlogie House, early 19th Century

Tarlogie House, early 19th Century

Year: 1820 | Included in Albums: Occasions / Places

Photo Description

This photo shows Tarlogie House probably when it belonged to Hugh Rose of Glastullich (later known as Hugh Ross of Cromarty). It was obviously taken on some public occasion but what, is not immediately clear. There appears to be a long trestle or table covered with a white cloth and surrounded by wooden benches in the bottom right hand corner.

We have now been informed that the above picture was taken approx at the turn of the century. The celebration was Percy MacKenzie's coming of age (oldest son of the Count & Countess of Serra de Largo). There were 300 taking part in the celebration & they dined on stovies & icecream! We are grateful to Elizabeth Sangster for this information which she obtained from Mr Lionel MacKenzie, the Count's grandson.
