Lealty House

Lealty House

Year: 1921 | Included in Albums: People / Places

Photo Description

Lealty House was opposite Ardross Castle and was occupied by the Munro family till 1848, when they agreed to exchange it for Rockfield, near Portmahomack at the request of Sir Alex. Matheson of Ardross, presumably because he did not want anyone living in such close proximity to the castle. This photo was taken in !921 when members of the Munro family were revisiting their old home. By 1985 it had no roof and the fairly extensive adjoining steadings had been destroyed. Stone Lifter

Has anyone been to Lealty House recently to check around to see of the lifting stone is still there? How is access? I am considering having a look around myself at some point.
