We are trying to trace my wife's father-in-law Iain Muir Webster Smart who was born in 1913. At some point his mother Laurie Smart was the gate keeper at Balnagown Castle after the death of her husband.

My ancestors lived at Pitcalnie, Nigg about a century before this photo was taken. What schooling might they have had at that time? (FRASER, MUNRO) One of the children (John Fraser) went on to become a partner in Wallace & Fraser, ironmongers in Tain, and HIS son John Gallie Fraser became a surgeon. So there must have been decent basic education in the area. Where was the Nigg primary school located?
